Designing Dynamic Discussions - Short Course

Two transmasculine people sitting together and having a serious conversation

Description

This Effective Interactions course will cover how to construct a discussion assignment from start to finish. Participants will reflect on their discussion philosophy and communication policies and design a prompt and rubric that they can then plug straight into an online course they are teaching or may teach in the future. The course modules will walk participants through step-by-step how to write an engaging and specific prompt, how to design a thorough and clear rubric, how to choose the appropriate options for discussions, and how to most effectively engage with students in discussions and during the assessment process.

Participants will review course material, interact asynchronously with peers, complete assignments, and design a discussion for the final project.
