Description

This session includes two 15-minute presentations with time for Q&A.

Meet the CCC Canvas Community Home Base!
If you are a member of a California Community College, the CCC Canvas Community Home Base is your destination for Canvas support, resources, and to connect with your peers. In this session, we will get you connected and demonstrate how to leverage this powerful resource to support your use of Canvas. You will learn how to set up your profile, follow discussions, share content, promote events, and make Canvas feature requests.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
1) Create a Community Profile and join/follow the CCC Canvas Home Base page
2) Participate in the CCC Canvas Community through discussions, viewing resources and upcoming events, creating/voting for product feature requests, and sharing relevant content with the Community.

Javascript Magic in Canvas: Randomizing Widgets, No Coding Required!
The Canvas Widget Warehouse at Widgets.MythFolklore.net contains randomizers you can copy-and-paste into Canvas. With randomizers, you can display fresh content — text, links, images, videos — whenever the page loads. You can also create your own randomizers with the free tool RotateContent.com. No coding required! Just imagination.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
1) Add widgets from the Widget Warehouse to their own Canvas courses,
2) Create their own javascript widgets using the RotateContent.com tool
3) Apply accessibility options for images in widgets.

Laura Gibbs

I’ve been teaching online courses at the University of Oklahoma since 2002. My Canvas course spaces are always open, so feel free to come take a look: Mythology and Folklore is at Myth.MythFolklore.net and Epics of India is at India.MythFolklore.net. I really appreciate the way Can*Innovate is open to participants beyond California: I’m excited to connect and share again this year!
