This webinar was part of our June 2018 First Friday event. This session showcases effective asynchronous and synchronous online teaching practices that increase student-student interactions. Julie Gamberg presents ideas for facilitating collaborative learning using Canvas Groups. Joseph Harrington showcases how he uses the break out room feature of Zoom to foster synchronous student-student interactions.

Julie is the Distance Education Faculty Development Coordinator at Glendale Community College and teaches English online.

Joseph Harrington

Joseph is Spanish faculty at Santa Rosa Junior College. He holds a Masters in Spanish Linguistics and has been advanced to candidacy for a PhD in Spanish Linguistics with a Designated Emphasis in Second Language Acquisition. He has experience teaching all level of Spanish through multiple modalities.

  1. I am interested in registering for this webinar but it is not clear to me how to do so. There’s a statement in bold that says “Register Now” but no way to register!!!

    • Hi William. You found the right spot, you just need to click on “Register Now.” Once you click on it, a new tab will open with a webinar registration form. Looking forward to having you with us on 6/1!
