Whose job is accessibility?, part 1

November 2, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 11:50 am

First Fridays

In December 2017, the State Auditor published a report stating that it found California Community Colleges “were not adequately monitoring compliance with accessibility standards.” In this webinar, we catch up with two of the three districts that were the focus of the 2017 audit, and ask them to share lessons learned and insights gained in the past year.

For real-time captioning services, please contact scarrasco@ccconlineed.org at least 7 business days prior to the webinar date.

Bio: Rick Miranda is a resident of Yorba Linda, California, and a lifelong native of southern California. As a child, he spent many weekends visiting the natural history museum in Los Angeles with his father. Mr. Miranda spent his collegiate years attending such institutions as Fullerton College; California State University, San Bernardino; and the University of California, Riverside; during which time he earned a BS and MS degree in biology. Following that, Mr. Miranda was a biology professor for nearly 8 years with Taft College in California’s central valley before transitioning into administration.
Mr. Miranda came to Cerritos College in the spring of 2012 as the Dean of Academic Affairs. In February of 2016 he was appointed the Acting Vice President of Academic Affairs and Assistant Superintendent, and in May 2017 he was appointed to serve in this position permanently. Rick continually facilitates opportunities for the campus to develop culturally responsive teaching and learning. He supports innovative education, curriculum and pedagogy, integrative teaching and learning, and research-based methodology. He strives to empower and encourage success by providing equitable access to resources.
