AI Train-the-Trainer Community of Practice: Cohort 3

CVC@ONE is now accepting applications for Cohort 3 for the AI Train-the-Trainer Community of Practice (CoP). This CoP is designed to support professional development leaders across the California Community College system. By the end of the CoP, participants will be prepared to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) CoP at their college in the summer or fall of 2025.

The program starts on Tuesday, March 25 and is open to colleges who have not yet participated in the CoP (see list at bottom of page). Participation is free.

Sign up now! Space is limited to 15 participants.

Testimonials from Past Participants

“The Fall 2024 AI Train-the-Trainer CoP was immensely valuable for the work I'm trying to do at my home campus to move us out of the scared/hair on fire phase of generative AI in higher education, and into the purposeful adoption phase. At the back end of the CoP I am prepared to recruit members and launch a CoP during the Spring 2025 term that can help move my campus forward with equity-minded adoption of AI tools for instructional purposes.”

“From participating in this AI Train-the-Trainer CoP, I learned how to build a collaborative and flexible meeting structure that gave space to diverse voices as well as honor the boundaries of the work. I learned how to incorporate AI tools into the group activities, organize the group resources, and leverage members expertise to craft my own work. We also discussed AI and its many impacts on education.”

What Will We Do?

With encouragement and support from your CoP Guide, we will actively engage with peers in five 90-minute live sessions (in Zoom). Community members will collectively develop a set of inclusive norms and apply them to foster a brave, trustworthy space for professional learning. Together, we will examine our underlying beliefs and values that are associated with our responses to Generative AI as we share resources, ask questions, surface concerns and opportunities. By the end, you will have a plan for an AI CoP that will strategically align with your college’s goals and advance your institution’s response to AI.

What Will You Learn?

By the end of the CoP, you will:

  • Identify effective practices for facilitating an AI Community of Practice at your college;
  • Curate a collection of Generative AI resources for teaching and learning;
  • Develop a schedule and marketing materials for your local AI CoP this spring;
  • Feel valued and supported as a member of a statewide community;
  • Feel more confident about facilitating an AI CoP that will support faculty with the risks and opportunities of teaching in the AI era
