Certificate in Online Teaching & Design

The design of your course has a major impact on student success. Guided by the 2027 Online Course Design Rubric, the Certificate in Online Teaching & Design will help you strengthen your online course design, whether you're experienced or new to online teaching.

1. Content Presentation
2. Interaction
3. Assessment
4. Accessibility

The 2027 Online Course Design Rubric organizes course design expectations into four sections: Policies & Support, Course Structure, Regular & Substantive Interaction (RSI), and Assessments, with Accessibility Verification addressing accessibility requirements across the course.

Participants can choose to complete our 12-week course, Online Teaching & Design (OTD), or a series of four 4-week courses (4x4). Digital badges are awarded for completing either the 12-week course or each of the four courses.

Learning Pathways

Participants can choose between two pathways:

Pathway 1: Take the 12-week Online Teaching & Design (OTD) course.
This option allows you to explore online course design in one comprehensive course.

Pathway 2: Take the four 4-week courses (4x4) listed below.
This option allows you to complete the coursework through a series of shorter courses focused on different aspects of online course design.
