External Files Accessibility Checklist

External Files Accessibility Checklist

□  “Convert” any non-complex content documents—Word, PDF, PPT—to Canvas pages and format accordingly. A less ideal option is to remediate the file in the existing “external” application.

□  Check that all videos have accurate captions (auto-generated is not typically sufficient for accessibility).

□  Create a separate folder in the Files area called “Accessibility Review” and sort all document files—Word, PDFs, PowerPoint, Excel—that are currently being used as part of the instructional content in the following manner: (Do not include images in the folder, only document files. Do not include “archived” documents from previous terms.)

○  Create a sub-folder called “Converted” for docs that have already been turned into Canvas pages.

○  Create a second sub-folder called “Accessible” for docs remaining in Word/PDF/PPT format but which have been remediated.

○  Create a final sub-folder called “Needs Remediation” for complex documents the instructor/college needs to make accessible.
