9:15 - 9:35 am Creating Assignments that Support Student Learning

  • 9:15-9:35 - Demonstration:
    • Ensuring your Assignments align with unit or course objectives.
    • Customizing your Assignment settings.
    • Providing clear instructions for students.
    • Duplicating Assignment "templates" to save time.
  • 9:35-9:55 - Hands-on Activity: In your "sandbox" you will set up an assignment with clear instructions.
  • 9:55-10:10 - Debrief: Share your Successes and Challenges.

10:10 - 11:10 am Ensure Learning is Happening with Quizzes

  • 10:10-10:35 - Demonstration:
    • Ensuring assessments align with unit or course objectives.
    • Choosing your question types and quiz settings.
    • Using question banks.
    • Creating a Quiz using individual questions and questions groups.
  • 10:35-10:55 - Hands-on Activity: You will set up a quiz with both a single question and a question bank, and you'll add customized feedback to at least one question.
  • 10:55-11:10 - Debrief: Share your Success and Challenges.

11:10 - 12:00 pm Using Rubrics to Guide Student Success

  • 11:10-11:30 - Demonstration:
    • Using Rubrics for Discussions and Assignments.
    • Best practices for designing Rubrics.
    • Setting up and customizing your Rubrics.
  • 11:30-11:45 - Hands-on Activity: You will draft a Rubric with separate grading criteria and three ratings.
  • 11:45-12:00 - Debrief: Share Successes and Challenges.

12:00 - 12:45 pm Using Speed Grader to Provide Meaningful Feedback

  • 12:00-12:20 - Demonstration:
    • Using SpeedGrader feedback tools:
      • Rubric Comments
      • Annotations
      • Video and Audio Feedback
  • 12:20-12:35 - Hands-on Activity: You will record video feedback and add comments to a student submission.
  • 12:35-12:45 - Debrief: Share Success and Challenges.

12:45 - 1:00 pm Summer Camp Wrap-up *
